WeBuildUtah is an initiative headed by the Associated General Contractors and its members as well as educational partners such as Talent Ready Utah, USBE, and statewide school districts/universities.
From Hashtag to Hub:
The Evolution of WeBuildUtah
Since 2018 the WeBuildUtah initiative has evolved from a hashtag serving to unite the construction industry in Utah to a plethora of resources for construction related employers as well as anyone interested in a career in the construction industry.
The WeBuildUtah brand became necessary after the creation of the UAEC pathways program. It became clear there was a gap between students in high school and their access to information about the construction industry. WeBuildUtah now serves as the bridge across that gap. Educational opportunities are offered to students, and hiring opportunities are offered to employers.
Uniting the Industry Through WeBuildUtah
Although not all construction related companies are members of the AGC, they still have the opportunity to take part in any WeBuildUtah event or resource. This is because the AGC strongly believes that the only way to truly develop our construction workforce is to stay united.
Building Utah, Building Our Future
Our collective effort to build the state of Utah is also the collective effort needed to build our workforce! As of current, for every 5 retirees from the industry only 1 individual is joining the industry. The outlook presented can be mitigated through efforts that serve to fix our workforce shortage. That is WeBuildUtah’s main goal.
AGC’s WeBuildUtah connects Utah’s construction industry with education to close the workforce gap.
